Smoking Weed and Staying Active
Olympic fever has hit and I know some of you have been sat watching, thinking ‘how does Adam Peaty swim that quick?’ or ‘why can’t I swim like that?’ well chances are you aren’t going to be able to compete on an Olympic level, however that doesn’t mean you can’t get in shape and be competitive in your own way. Smoking weed does not mean in any way shape or form that you can’t be fit and healthy, and it shouldn’t be used as an excuse not to be. Exercise is very good for coping with stress and negative thoughts, due to the drive it gives you to essentially be a better, healthier you. This means if you occasionally use cannabis as a coping mechanism for stress then you can swap that for exercise so as to save your weed and simply smoke it when you want to.
Now maybe one of the first steps would be to cut down on the amount of weed you smoke, depending on how healthy you wish to be, as it may affect your breathing if smoked with tobacco in. Maybe another solution for this would be to simply remove tobacco from the equation, it may not spark and burn as nice but it will definitely taste nicer, and instead of smoking the same size joint but with more weed in, simply roll a smaller spliff with the same amount of weed without the tobacco.
If you can function at full capacity, or at least high enough capacity, whilst stoned by all means work out while stoned, however if you cannot then possibly use weed as an incentive for working out or exercising a certain amount. For example, run five miles in under forty-five minutes and reward yourself with a nice joint when you get home, then the next day perform a more structured exercise routine centered around weights and core strength and use a similar reward system.
As proof that it does work, I would use myself as an example, a while ago I quit smoking cigarettes and have started working out. Due to most of my friends smoking joints with tobacco in, I essentially stopped smoking weed until recently. Now I do not feel like smoking weed is all that terrible for me as my body is healthier due to exercise. Also one never gets in the way of the other.
