I don’t like to take all the credit for this, but can I just point out that in a number of posts over the past couple of weeks, I have mentioned and complained over the fact that not enough British politicians speak in favour of our favourite herb, with many avoiding the very topic like the plague. All joking aside, this has changed this week, after an inquiry held by a group of MP’s led to them calling for the plant's legalization in the UK.

This seeming lack of interest in cannabis my British politicians has been heartbreaking and head-scratching, especially with it rising to prominence in the US over the past few years. Marijuana has only been discussed in the UK for a number of years as a drug as opposed to the medicine we all know it to be. This news comes as a massive step for the people of Britain, and it’s just beautiful, as a stoner, to hear one MP say, “Against this background, the UK scheduling of cannabis as a substance that has no medical value is irrational.”

Obviously, we are not out of the water yet, the UK still has miles to go before we sleep in the fight for legalisation. While it will be a while before anything concrete happens, this should prove to be a great first step to launch marijuana reform into serious discussion held by leading political figures in our nation. I look forward to hearing how the major party leaders react to this, and I hope they choose to make our dreams reality.
