At age 16 marijuana is all the rage, it becomes not only your favorite thing but likely the basis for your whole social life, you use it to make friends and have a good time essentially. As you get older, you get introduced to other drugs, namely cocaine and MDMA (ecstasy), which allow you to ‘party’ really fucking hard. For most true stoners, however, these drugs do not replace weed, these drugs are commonly used by those who didn’t begin as stoners, typically students. This progression is generally the basis for the argument of marijuana being a gateway drug, however that is utterly wrong, as these drugs are definitely more related to alcohol use than anything else as they compliment each other, weed only works with alcohol if you smoke weed before, whereas if you smoke it after it can be detrimental to you.

This uneasy relationship with alcohol makes marijuana a less popular ‘party’ starter and more of an end of the night thing, used to unwind ready for sleep and relaxation. Which raises the question is it possible to have a night out with little Mary Jane?

The short answer is yes, I have only done it a handful of times, yet I know many people who do it regularly and feel better for it. You don’t get the after affects of alcohol or the dreaded ‘come-down’ that comes with harder drugs. Also even if you feel stoned when you go to sleep, this doesn’t matter as your sleep will likely be nicer than if you were sober.
